i)           Local access (Offline): Members of the University of Khartoum will have internal access to database. Thus avoiding the need for students to rely on the internet to access core documents and information relevant to their course.

ii)         UofK Database: The database will hold material generated by the University of Khartoum including special data, information on management systems, climate data and research materials along with a selection of international documents chosen by the staff of the engineering departments as core material for the courses. (The international material will be a combination of both free-to-download and pay-for-access.)

iii)        International Access: The SudVEL-SKN Interface will provide access to research and material generated by the University of Khartoum. This information is very important in assisting in development of the region and will be a valuable tool for many projects in the region along with supporting international research. In some cases material in the database may be restricted from International access.

Note: This project will allow an increased contribution from UofK to the UNESCO GHESP as a member of the International Association of Universities. Additionally, this project is inline with the goals of the United Nations Decade for Education in Sustainable Development 2005 -15.
